Development of microsatellite markers for Hancornia speciosa Gomes (Apocynaceae).

Herein, we describe 34 microsatellite loci developed using an enrichment genomic library for the tree species Hancornia speciosa Gomes (Apocynaceae). Thirty-five individuals were genotyped using 34 primers to analyze the polymorphisms at each locus. The number of alleles per locus ranged from 4 to 20. The average number of alleles was 8.11, and the expected heterozygosity ranged from 0.62 to 0....

A remarkable new species of Paraclius Loew from Brazil (Diptera: Dolichopodidae).

The dolichopodine genus Paraclius Loew (Diptera: Dolichopodidae) presently includes over 150 described species worldwide and about 60 from the Neotropics (Yang et al. 2006; Capellari & Amorim 2009). Nevertheless, the genus was recovered as a polyphyletic assemblage of different lineages by Brooks (2005), and splitting of Paraclius into new genera will probably be required in the future to accom...

Saltbush-associated Asphondylia species (Diptera: Cecidomyiidae) in the Mediterranean Basin and their chalcidoid parasitoids (Hymenoptera: Chalcidoidea).

Numerous species of gall midges (Diptera: Cecidomyiidae) have been recorded from saltbush (Chenopodiaceae: Atriplex) around the world but only 11 of them belong to the large cecidomyiid genus Asphondylia. Of these, two species were described in the late 19th century from complex bud galls on Atriplex halimus in the Mediterranean Basin. In the present study Asphondylia punica is redescribed, A. ...
